Use Cases

Survey-grade maps and models from the air.

Collect accurate imagery, LiDAR and elevation data faster than a ground crew, with the aircraft, positioning, processing and training to turn it into deliverables you can use.

Surveying and Mapping

Where teams put mapping to work

Drone mapping covers large or hard-to-reach areas in a fraction of the time of a traditional survey, and repeat flights show how a site changes over time.

Construction and earthwork

Progress mapping, cut and fill comparisons and as-built documentation on a regular schedule.

Mining and aggregates

Stockpile volumes, pit mapping and highwall documentation without putting crews on the slope.

Landfills

Airspace and capacity tracking and cell development monitoring.

Corridors and transportation

Long, narrow mapping for roads, rail, pipelines and power lines, where fixed-wing aircraft shine.

Forestry and natural resources

LiDAR that sees through the canopy to the ground, for terrain models, stand mapping and habitat work.

Agriculture and land management

Field-scale imagery and elevation data for drainage planning and crop assessment.

How it works

Plan, fly, process

Accuracy starts before takeoff, so we look at the whole workflow, not just the aircraft.

1. Plan

Define the area, the accuracy you need and the deliverables, then choose the aircraft, sensor and positioning approach to match.

2. Fly

Automated flight plans capture consistent coverage, with RTK or PPK positioning and ground control where the project calls for it.

3. Process

Photogrammetry and LiDAR software turn the raw data into orthomosaics, point clouds, surface models and volumes.

Tools we use for mapping

  • Wingtra and Quantum Systems: VTOL fixed-wing drones that cover large areas and long corridors in a single flight.
  • Freefly: heavy-lift multirotors that carry LiDAR and mapping cameras for detailed site work.
  • GeoCue TrueView: drone LiDAR and imagery sensors for terrain under vegetation and dense point clouds.
  • Emlid and Point One Navigation: GNSS receivers and RTK corrections for centimeter-level positioning.
  • Pix4D: photogrammetry software that turns imagery into orthomosaics, point clouds and 3D models.

Need the data, not the drone?

Our drone services team can collect and process the data for you, and we can also source existing aerial and satellite imagery when a new flight is not needed.

From first flight to a lasting program

Cleartopia supports setup, pilot and processing training and workflow design, so your team can map with confidence on its own.
